ISAC
Evaluation of IgE against 112 allergenic proteins
Why undergoing this examination?
Allergy is a hypersensitivity reaction to a substance that, when inhaled, ingested, or touched, produces characteristic symptoms. When an allergen comes into contact with the body of an allergic individual for the first time, the immune system responds by producing a large amount of IgE antibodies through a process called sensitization.
Successive exposures of the individual to the same allergen will lead to the release of chemical mediators, particularly histamine, which will produce the characteristic symptoms of the allergic reaction. These reactions, in turn, can manifest in different ways, and both the symptoms and their intensity can vary among different individuals.
What is this exam?
The ISAC Test (Immuno Solid-Phase Allergen Chip) involves the simultaneous determination of specific IgE antibodies for 112 allergenic proteins present in more than 50 different allergens, from a single blood sample (plasma or serum). The analysis allows obtaining an individual sensitization profile, and the results are classified into four categories: undetectable reaction, low, moderate-high, and very high. The ISAC Test helps in directing diagnosis and prognosis, enabling personalized treatment.
For whom is it indicated?
- Individuals in whom there is no correlation between the positivity of conventional allergy tests and symptoms;
- Complex cases with an unsatisfactory response to treatment;
- Evaluate patients with idiopathic anaphylaxis;
- Detection suspicious and unsuspected sensitizations.
Technology
ImunoCAP – Microarray methodology.
